a baby, a marriage, and an ironman bring it on 2011 (and the tail end of 2010).
I'll have a nephew he lives in ethopia but he'll be here soon enough, maybe he can be my bike mantra.
I'll have two nieces, a nephew, and a brother in law, maybe they can be my run mantra.
I'll have myself, alone, confident, and proud. maybe I can be my swim mantra.
Training so far...
Its been a little more adhoc then I would like, an occasional swim with "coach mariss", a daily run, and bike thereafter. I bought a planner to track it all; the good, the bad, the ugly. It starts July 1. I'll try to track as much of the unboring events as possible on the blog 'ran for 40 minutes, finally rode the bike more than a foot without falling over, and swam outside the slow lane' sort of update.
I've got to divorce the ipod at some point. I'm just not ready yet.

The great thing about the run "day of" - is that you are surrounded by others and I swear, you won't miss the iPod. You'll be taking in the sights, smells, sounds of the day...making new friends (or ignoring them if that is your thing).
ReplyDeleteThe chatter between your new "Ironman Family" members becomes something magical. People you just met (and most likely - will never meet again) become your lifeline (and you - theirs). You make a difference to each other as you make that final push to the finish line.
An amazing journey is in front of you. I am so excited to follow it!
Being that your soon to be nephew is from Ethiopia he may have a thing or two to school you on with long distance running. But until he gets here I will ask him if he has any pointers he would like to share with his aunt.
